Landscape change – from open-cast mining to lake landscape

3 pm Bus departure from the Congress Hall – Tour of the Vereinigtes Schleenhain open-cast mine south of Leipzig with the Schleenhain, Peres and Groitzscher Dreieck extraction fields – Bus transfer to Lake Hainer, created by groundwater recharge and external flooding from open-cast mining holes in the Witznitz extraction area – Visit to the leisure and recreation area – Arrival in Leipzig Goethestrasse at 6 pm

Unfinished Saale-Elster Canal

3 pm Bus departure from the Congress Hall – Bus trip with expert guidance by Rüdiger Harzer and Richard Albrecht (City of Leipzig) to Lindenau Harbour – Trip to Wüsteneutzsch lock (Saale–Elster Canal), expert guidance by the Elbe Waterways and Shipping Authority – Arrival at 6 pm in Leipzig Goethestrasse

Into the heart of the Saale-Unstrut wine region

3:30 pm Bus departure from Congress Hall – UNESCO World Heritage Naumburg Cathedral with small reception and cathedral tour – drive to the winegrowing town of Freyburg (Unstrut) – visit the Rotkäppchen sparkling wine cellars – cosy dinner in the vineyards above the town – return journey to Leipzig Goethestrasse

Lake Werbelin – from opencast mine to nature reserve

3:30 pm Bus from Congress Hall – On a guided lake walk (eng/fr/deu) immerse yourself in a natural paradise on the outskirts of the city – look through a spotting scope at the bird islands and gain insights into the history of the former open-cast mine Delitzsch Südwest, which, thanks to unique renaturation, has developed into a 1500-hectare nature reserve with a special diversity of species. Wolf, white-tailed eagle, beaver and especially many rare bird species live here – approx. 6:30 pm Bus arrival Leipzig Goethestrasse
