Ever since 2009, the Leipziger Messe has been supporting the development of water tourism with the “Seenland Congress” with a focus on Central Germany. Since 2018, the congress has been a permanent fixture on the international conference schedule regarding water topics on an international level.

With international support, Central Germany is in the midst of preparing the World Canals Conference 2022 in Leipzig. The Seenland Congress 2021 gives a first insight on current topics, which will be further intensified in 2022.

The Congress focuses on the topic of regional development with an emphasis on transformation, structural change and the connection of historical and modern water landscapes. One thing stands above all: water fascinates, inspires and connects and gives regional – also transnational – development significant impulses.
